So my girlfriend and I were near Sonder's yesterday and decided to give it a try for the first time.

First off our server was Tanya and she was absolutely.......  Awesome!  She greeted us with enthusiasm and really made us feel at home.

For brunch, I had the Poutein and my girlfriend had the scramble.  Both were so good and great flavor and their homemade sausage is incredible.  The tater tots are a great addition to complete the meal.

Everything is local farm to table and really great to support a local restaurant.  They are really trying to accommodate to all ages with various specials and activities they provide during the week.

We will definitely be coming back to try their regular menu.

Thank you Tanya for a great Sunday brunch!

I LOVE the atmosphere of this location. Everything from the wall decor to the tables to the patio is just super cute! This is one of the best places if you're looking for a modern brunch restaurant.

The food is all pretty good too! Just giving it 4 stars because the breakfast selection is pretty small. But other than that, everything else was great. Will definitely keep coming back for Brunch on the weekends.

My wife and I really really really really want to love this place.....but.....we just can't

We have visited several times just to make sure it wasn't an off day, and yet it seems to be the same result every time.

On our last visit we had a small group with us. We were sat immediately and received pretty stellar service, so no complaints there at all. We ordered several apps for the table and those came out in great time and looked/tasted great. But the entrees is where we were lost.

My wife ordered the carbonara. The server asked for an upsell of chicken or shrimp, my wife ordered the shrimp. My mother in law ordered the exact same as my wife. I decided to "play it safe" and ordered the rib eye. I figured if they're charging $42 for a rib eye they know what they're doing.....oh, and the kids both ordered the grilled cheese.

The server was awesome and made sure the kids meals came out first (yay for her! She understands) and shortly after all of the adult meals started rolling out. My steak however took quite some time. I was a little concerned at how long it was taking considering I order my steak R to MR. My steak finally arrives but I decided to let it rest while I drove into the mac n cheese. Mac n cheese was...aight. not bad, but not good. I then noticed that the butter on the steak was still completely solid....was the butter frozen? It's possible. Now mind you, the outside of my steak is black, and when I say black, I mean this thing was toast. So I cut into the steak.....this freaking steak is blue. Now I don't mind a black n blue IFFFFF I know where the steak came from. But if this is just some bs steak from sysco no thank you.  How can you burn a steak so bad, but yet its ice cold inside????  Was this steak from another order that was screwed up so it was thrown to the side until another rib eye order came up?

Typically I would just eat the steak so the rest of my table doesn't have to wait for me to get a remake....but this wasn't some 2 for $20 at applebees...this was a friggin $42 piece of charcoal. So I had the steak remade. While waiting the manager brought out another mac n cheese.

Now to my wife and mother in laws pasta. Both orders the shrimp were practically inedible. My wife kicked hers to the side to focus on the pasta. And my mother in laws was almost as if it came from the microwave. I'm not sure how you can cook pasta to that temperature. So after she burned off all her taste buds and removed a layer of skin from the roof of her mouth she managed to get some of it down...I mean, she couldn't taste or feel anything anyway.

Now lastly, the "kids" grilled cheese 99.2% of kids here in Bakersfield know a grilled cheese to be 2 pieces of wonder bread and some good ole Kraft American cheese. Unless Gordan Ramsay or Jon Favreau is at home making grilled cheese, most kids won't appreciate a nice thick piece of brioche with three different types of cheese. Go back to your roots. What did your first year culinary instructor tell you?...keep it simple stupid. Parents don't want to spend $9 for their kids to pick at some fries. Make the fancy grilled cheese for the guy wearing his girlfriends pants, not the kids.

I sat at the bar and was greeted by two very friendly bartenders , I asked for a suggestion as the pb & j martini is no longer on the menu. I was told the sangria is the best and decided on Rosè as they have a few different options . I'm not a sangria fan at all, but wow! This drink didn't taste like anything I've ever had. It was crisp and refreshing. I don't even think I have the right words to describe how much I loved this .
